"During my time as a Director, I had the privilege of working with Dr. Brittany Hewett as she served as an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist working with children at my center. Dr. Hewett’s wealth of knowledge and compassion is stellar and really helped not just the students behavioral challenges improve for the children that she worked one on one with but also the child to teacher and child to parent relationships improve. The suggestions for strategies and techniques put in place for any behavioral difficulties at home that parents may have faced or at school that teachers may have encountered were very creative and appropriate that generated positive outcomes with the child she was working with and unknowingly the classroom as a whole. Not only is Dr. Hewett creative but she is also engaging and compassionate. I would enjoy and learn so much as I would watch her interactions with children and families. After initially reaching out for services and receiving her help, my child care center continued to use services because her results were phenomenal and my teachers really flourished by continuing to implement the interventions learned from her and the training she provided. "Having Brittany Hewett as my family’s Early Childhood Specialist was a life changing experience for us. Not only did Brittany give our children the support they needed in their classroom and guided their teachers to better understand them; she was a rock for us as parents. In a time when everyone else had abandoned us or told us our kids were too young to help, Brittany stepped in as our support, mentor, counselor, and friend. The countless number of times I had to lean on Brittany as a mother because I needed to be heard, I will never be able to repay back to her. My husband and I were first time parents (also first-time foster parents) and we had no clue what battle we had just taken on. Brittany was the answer to a desperate mother’s prayer. I knew nothing about the childcare world or behavioral interventions for children. I did not understand if I was doing the right thing or the wrong thing with my children, and I felt extremely overwhelmed.
